28-29 September 2010, Workshop „DV-gestützte Anwendungen im Bodenschutz und Altlastenbereich“ / “IT-Based Applications in Soil Protection and Contaminated Sites”, Dessau-Rosslau (Germany)

The objective of the workshop, organized by Federal Environmental Agency of Germany (UBA) in co-operation with the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR), was to present new and perspective developments for soil protection and contaminated sites, to discuss the data transfer between EU, Federal Government and states, to review water- and soil-related issues, and to present methods for visualization of point- and area-related data of ground water and soil.
More than 60 delegates and 18 speakers from all over Germany participated in this workshop.

Dr Thomas Hertwig, from Beak Consultants GmbH , presented the results of a case study from Annaberg / Germany, where point measurements of soil contamination with Arsenic have been regionalized using artificial neural network and GIS technologies with advangeo®.
