Beak ist Partner im Geoscience InfoRmation for AFrica Network (GIRAF).
Der erste GIRAF Workshop fand vom 16.-20.März 2009 im Geological Survey of Namibia / Ministry of Mines and Energy, in Windhoek statt. Vertreter aus 30 afrikanischen und 4 europäischen Staaten bildeten ein Diskussionsforum rund um das Thema "Stand des Geoinformationswesens in den Geologischen Diensten Afrikas".
Beak war mit zwei Vorträgen vertreten:
